Never do the shopping when you're hungry!

I suppose that was the reason why I bought various new stuff after my appointment at the hairdresser - without any clue what to do with it. "What did you buy all that for?" asked my boyfriend skeptically. I didn't come up with a good answer to it. Moreover, I didn't enjoy most of it.

But I found one new product, which suits perfectly for vegetarian meals: goat cream cheese! Until recently, I always thought it tastes too harsh, if you know what I mean. Then I had this great intuition and combined it with yams. The intense taste of the cream cheese matches ideally to the sweet yams.




Best Vegetarian Recipes: Baked Yams Recipe

• 17 oz yams
• 1 onion
• 1 garlic clove
• 0.6 cups of cream
• 3.5 oz Parmesan
• 5 oz goat cream cheese
• Nutmeg
• Salt, Pepper

Now add a new layer of yams and repeat the steps (cream, spices and parmesan).

When you're done and no yams are left, bake the dish for around 30 minutes at 392°F. The goat cream cheese serves as a dip. Enjoy your meal.

Recently in the supermarket, I suddenly felt the urge to buy new kitchen decor. What a perfect coincidence, that the market had reduced prices for decorative pin boards! Unfortunately, all that glitters is not gold. But let's start from scratch.

I bought one of the aforesaid pin boards. My boyfriend was complaining anyway, that we need one. The pin board pretends to be a diy bulletin board and consists of eight cork boards with geometrical forms. You can combine them at will and glue them to the wall with sticky tape.
Impetuously, I attach the cork boards to the wall in the kitchen. As I'm almost done, my boyfriend enters the kitchen and remarks: "Looks kind of askew".

What?! I look at the bulletin board from afar and see that he's right. So I start over again. Uff. Well, it's my fault, I think - why didn't I use the folding rule and a level?

30 minutes later, the pin board is still askew and I'm kind of pissed. Already lost the delight for new kitchen decorating ideas...

However, I didn't take it off. At least until next morning when I found parts of it down on the floor. The sticky tape was still attached to the wall, with parts of cork on it. Stupid pin board - would like to dump it in the supermarket where I bought it.

Well, I don't give up that easily. I attached more sticky tape (a lot more...) to the back - seems to work now. It's still askew. When attaching for the third time, I discovered it's not my fault - the cork boards are partly cut askew. So what did I learn? Next time I want a new bulletin board, I go to the building center, not to the supermarket.

Decorative Pin Boards as Family Day Planner

To organize our future daily routine super mega perfectly, I subdivided our pin board into six divisions. Two To-Do Lists for my boyfriend and me. Open orders for future purchases, open invoices for things that are still to pay (you can tell I studied business studies right?).
Next, a menu plan for the week - I'm just tired of standing in the supermarket and not knowing what to cook. And in the end, it results somehow always in pasta. Last but not a list, a purchasing list including check boxes. Ticking check boxes satisfies me.

A wise women said a shortly ago: "Acrylic paint makes everything better". She's so damn right. Which is way I painted the colorful pins I bought and made them all gray. Matches the rest of the kitchen decor. Was kind of satisfying to have them all uniformed in one color. Their look appeases me every time I look at the askew bulletin board.

Since our baby girl knows how to crawl, there's no holding back. She is discovering her world and is getting quicker every day. Being on your knees the whole day doesn't appear very comfortable to me. Though she doesn't mind. There's just too much to discover.

Still, I wanted her to be comfortable which is why I sewed baby knee pads for her. I used old fabric in doing so. Moreover, a stuffed animal was - well - kind of hurt. To be exactly, a stuffed squirrel lost its tail. Poor squirrel.

Sorry to any mum, how is searching a pattern for sewing baby pants - I took one of our pants and enhanced it with baby knee pads to prevent bruises.

Baby Knee Pads: Instructions

For the baby knee pads, cut out four equal ovals. Pin two ovals on the later inside of the knee pads together. Sew them together with matching thread but leave a little hole for filling the knee pads later. Turn the pads (inside is now in). The fissure is invisible now.

Time to kill the stuffed animal! Or at least to hurt it seriously..
Use the contents of the stuffed animal to fill the baby knee pads. Afterwards sew together the hole you left earlier. Use the pins to attach the pads to the baby pants and sew the pads to the pants. Be careful not to sew together the legs of the pants. Happens to best ;)

It seems to be a law of nature, that you always get sick on weekends or holidays.

At least at a time, where no drugstore is open unless you want to drive 30 minutes at a time, where you don't want to leave the house at all.

Wet and cold weather didn't result in cozy holidays for us. Instead, we all got the flu and fell like flies. 

I have to confess, I don't have lots of remedies at home. Miffed and coughing, I started to search for home remedies for cough and flu. I wasn't very successful, so I decided to make my own homemade cough syrup. 

Onion juice with honey is a very effective remedy against cough and cold. Recent studies indicate, that honey is partly superior to antibiotics in its effect, as honey also helps against drug-resistant germs.

Homemade Cough Syrup: Recipe

For your own homemade cough syrup, you cut the onion into small dices and cook it in the water for about 5 minutes. Afterwards add the honey and you're done.

You can mix the homemade cough syrup additionally, if you want to have the onions extra fine. If you want the onion juice to be thicker, just add more honey, it won't hurt.

Take your homemade cough syrup at least 3 times a day and keep it in the fridge. After 3 days, I would make new onion juice and litter the old one.

If you're searching for other natural remedies for cold, drink chamomile tee with honey. I drank it until I literally thought it must come flow out of my ears (sorry for this image). But after only 2 days, my sore throat was completely gone (though I didn't take any other remedies for flu).
