Upgrade Your Home and Get a New Look: Painted Shelves DIY

9:27 PM

This project was really a looooot of work. Honestly. But it was worth it in the end.
Okay, now from the start. We bought several new shelves for our storage room (well, it should have been our office, but ended as a storage room..).
The shelves were basically ok, but I was really unhappy with the door handles. They look kind of cheap and also pretty boring. Something had to be done..
Which is why I show you my painted shelves diy this week :)

Painted Shelves DIY - Materials and Instructions

  • Acrylic Paint in various colors
  • Brushes
  • Masking Tape
  • Scissors
  • Something to paint on (mat, plastic sheet etc.)
  • Paper towel
  • Gloves
  • Bucket to clean the brushes
  • and the door knobs to be painted
First, paint the handles in the basic color. If you use bright colors, you may have to paint them several times, as the colors usually do not cover well. To create the stripes contrasting colors, you will have to wait several days until the handles are completely dry.
Then, cover the area for the stripes with masking tape and paint the handles in a new color. After the second color is dry, remove the masking tape.
Sometimes, the result gets blurred on the edges. If so, use a small brush to correct the stripes.
